MURDOCH HILL CHARDONNAY ADELAIDE HILLS ROCKET 2018

Strong struck match and flint scents, almost completely dominating fruit character, though a peep of white pear emerges behind. The palate is skeletal but lightly juicy, impressively taut, lengthy and racy, holds incredible sense of freshness and vitality, skims long into a green pear/lime juice finish. It’s of an ilk, but done very well, and should hold attention long for those seeking mineral-charged, leaner, racier styles. It’s an excellent expression.

Welcome

Welcome to Murdoch Hill, thanks for stopping by. We are proud of our patch of the Adelaide Hills and are excited to share it with you.

Our family has been farming the fertile soils of the Onkaparinga Valley since 1939 and in this time there have been many cattle grazing, hens laying, potatoes grown, flowers picked and since 1998 we have been passionately caring for our vines, and making great wines.

Our vineyard is located behind the township of Oakbank in the beautiful Adelaide Hills. Producing excellent Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. There has been a lot of blood sweat and tears along the way.

Now, with 20 vintages under our belt the results speak for themselves. We carefully hand prune, shoot thin, bunch thin, and hand pick to produce the best possible wines that show the unique characters of our place.

Meet Michael, (our Winemaker) he is the youngest in the family and when the wine bug hit, he never looked back. After studying Oenology he went to work for a top Winery in the Adelaide Hills before embarking on a globe trotting adventure. Touring the great wine regions of the world with harvest experience in Barolo, Italy, he then returned to Oz with vintages in Great Western, Victoria and other local wineries before finally joining the family winery in 2012. He is now our winemaker, mum is as proud as ever and he does make some great wines!
